Milestones

Bruce 5wks and 4 days old

Bruce rolled over again today! It's hilarious to watch. He kicks his legs against the floor and gets up on his side and then waits for gravity to pull him over. Of course he can only do it from his tummy to his back, but it's a start.

He also smiles at mommy and daddy. I'm trying to capture the moment and will post as soon as I do. He's still a very serious baby.

His baby acne is gone but now he has cradle cap but it's going away.

And the saddest milestone of all...he's losing his baby hair. I asked Kiel if we could buzz it off so he doesn't look like a cancer patient but he said no :(

I only have one more week of post partum funkiness and then I get to exercise! How long does it take before I stop looking 4 months pregnant? The hormones are under control, finally! Except I still hate the dog, even though he's been a really good dog.

Lastly, this coming Thursday will be the first day of our first family vacation trip. Bay area here we come! Our home away from home.

Dear Husband

I once heard someone say "the greatest thing you can do as a father is love their mother unconditionally."

It was you that took care of your son's mother when she could not dress herself, walk without assistance or go to the bathroom.

It was you that lovingly brushed her hair, held her hand and tucked her into bed.

It was you that took care of her precious baby while she couldn't. Every diaper change, swaddle and comfort given was much appreciated.

It was you that embraced fatherhood like it was second nature.

And it is you who is working overtime on Father's Day so you can provide for your family.

You are natural and we are so blessed to have you in our lives.

Thanks for all you do!

Happy Father's Day -

Melissa and Bruce

What did you do today?

Bruce is 1 month old!

Bruce's 1 month pic.

Well it's been 1 month and we've survived!

Bruce is such a doll (Kiel says I treat him like my live doll.)

I haven't done much lately besides keep a new born alive (so good for me.)

But enough about me... Bruce is 9lbs 9oz as of today and doing great.

He found his thumb yesterday, Finally gave me a picture with his eyes open (see above) and still makes 12 poops a day(close enough!)

(Bruce aggressively sucking his thumb)

He sleeps through the night, well as much as a newborn can sleep through the night. He wakes up at 4am to feed and then goes right back to sleep and then again at 7am. I've been lucky. The only night this wasn't true was the first night home from the hospital (oh my, was that the WORST night ever, EVER!)

Also he's very alert. He has been since the day he came in the mailbox (I wish that's how it happened.) He loves to stare at anyone who will hold him and scrunch his forehead.

This week we started sleep training, he needs a lot of help getting himself to sleep for naps but night time is a piece of cake.

I'll close by saying motherhood is wonderful! And on days when I feel like I have done NOTHING, at least I can say I held my baby all day and so it wasn't a waste.
